The student council has a highly active role in our school affairs. The council exists not to govern the students, but to serve as a meeting place between the student body and the administration. It is a place where problems or questions from either the students or the administration can be discussed, considered, and hopefully resolved. ALL students are part of the ASB and are encouraged to attend weekly meetings and participate in the various events and activities at CHS. Weekly meetings are held in our school library every Tuesday before school, 7:30-8:10 am. All students are invited to attend. Officers and ASB representatives are required to come and club members must be present if wanting approval on an Activity Request or a Purchase Order. This is also a chance to see what is going on at school and get involved. Many topics come forth for discussion at these meetings and we strongly believe that student input is the best way to make our school the best we can possibly be.

The ASB is responsible for planning, organizing and managing many of the extracurricular activities at CHS. They plan assemblies, organize dances, and manage expenditures and budgets for various clubs and activities.

Students who take part in their school's government take on a large amount of responsibility. There are six positions within ASB including a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Activities Coordinator. The students rotate leadership roles through out the school year enabling them to all learn the different officer roles and responsiblities. We started this concept in 2005 and it is working well. Annual elections are held in April for the upcoming school year. Officers attend a week long summer leadership class and a weekend fall workshop, where they learn about student government issues, organizing assemblies, conducting meetings, school budgets, etc. and meet with other students from around the state, who are involved with ASB.

Homecoming is one of ASB's largest events of the year, planning assemblies, parade and dance Friday night after the game. October 2nd -6th is Homecoming week 2007. Monday and Friday will be pep assemblies and Wednesday is the parade. Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during half time at the game Friday night.
