Graduation
requirements
Graduates of the White
Salmon Valley School District exceed state identified graduation requirements
in many areas, in part due to the establishment of more stringent standards
by the district. For specific graduation requirements, visit Columbia High
School's counseling page.
K-12 Scope & Sequence
Grades K-4 are taught in
self-contained classrooms, with additional elements of music, and physical
education taught by content specialists. Grades 5 and 6 are a mix of
self-contained classrooms and "blends" of grade 5/6 students taught
in a team environment. Grades 7 - 12 use a block schedule format to
allow for classes in a variety of core curriculum, elective, vocational,
and enrichment areas.
Testing/Assessment Information
White Salmon Schools participate
in all state-mandated tests. Results for the district's Washinton Assessment
of Student Learning (WASL) for recent years are available
online.
Curriculum revisions
The White Salmon Valley
School District has consistently reevaluated its curriculum offerings
to remain aligned with education reform in Washington State. It has
created revised curriculum guides in the core curriculum areas of Language
Arts (1996), Mathematics (1998), Science (2000), and the Social Studies
(2002) which are used throughout the district for curriculum planning
and course alignment, grades K-12.
