Bond UpdateOnce again, THANK YOU VOTERS for approving this bond election. Thanks to your support we have added a new, four-classroom modular to Whitson Elementary School to accommodate student growth. We have put a new, metal roof on Henkle Middle School to stop the many, many leaks in classrooms, the kitchen, and hallways. This roof has a 30-year warranty and should last for many years to come. We have added new flooring in many classrooms, offices, and libraries. We still have 9 classrooms remaining to floor at Henkle Middle School as we ran out of time to install the flooring prior to the opening of school. New lockers have been added to Columbia High School to replace the worn out lockers that were installed in the initial construction of the building in 1970. The track has been resurfaced and relined and looks absolutely wonderful! We now have restrooms underneath the grandstands that are utilized for about 55 events each year. We have also begun the design phase for the physical fitness room at Columbia High School. Below you will see before and after pictures of all eight projects included within this bond. Because we are still in the design phase of the physical fitness room you will only see the before picture. You will only see the before picture of the parking lot as well. At the conclusion of the final payments of the seven projects listed above, the White Salmon Valley School District Board of Directors will be able to determine the amount of money left in the Capital Projects Fund and will be able to determine the scope of the parking lot project for next summer (2008). We have listed the amount of money budgeted for each project as listed in the Bond Brochure published last January next to each project picture. We have listed the amount of money actually spent on each project as well, and then indicated the amount saved or over-spent on each project. The last page of this brochure indicates the amount of money left to spend on the parking lot project.
This demonstrates that we should have enough revenue remaining from the bond to complete the high school/middle school parking lot this summer (2008). If all goes according to plan we have completed all eight projects with nearly $3,000 remaining from the $1,700,000 bond. |
