Once you've chosen a topic you're interested in, you need to take a look around to see if there are going to be enough resources to research and write your report. It's similar to a step you might take before beginning to make something in the kitchen --checking in your cupboards and refrigerator to make sure you have the right ingredients before you get too far into your recipe.
In this case, you'll be creating reference cards for at least 10 different resources with information about your topic. You don't need to check out the books at this time, or even spend much time with them. Simply make sure that they contain some information about your topic. Then create a properly formatted notecard for each reference. Don't forget to include the call number for the references so you can easily find them later.
